What is AI visibility?
In Taiwan, the mainstream AI landscape centers on four companies, each with several products. Much of the confusion is simply about how those products fit together. Once the structure is clear, the different opportunities for exposure make more sense.
The four companies and their products are:
- OpenAI: the most widely used AI provider in Taiwan in my experience. Its two main products discussed here are ChatGPT, geared toward general questions, and Codex, geared toward professional project work. In Taiwan, ChatGPT is the main consumer entry point.
- Google: this article distinguishes three products. AI Overviews are summaries at the top of some search results. AI Mode provides a conversational search experience; many users reach it by continuing from an AI Overview. Gemini can be thought of, simply, as Google’s counterpart to ChatGPT.
- Anthropic: less familiar to some non-engineers. Its main product, Claude, is especially useful for coding, making Claude visibility relevant if developers are part of your audience.
- xAI: Elon Musk’s AI company, with the Grok family of products and a smaller audience in Taiwan.
Beyond these are open-source models, Chinese AI tools and specialist image or video tools. But for a brand focused on being discovered through AI by Taiwanese users, my main priorities are ChatGPT and Google AI Mode.
Check what the exposure actually says
Being mentioned is only the first step. Pay attention to the description of your brand, services and the direction of the discussion. If you chase visibility without checking accuracy and context, AI can become a channel that damages your brand instead.
