Why do I have keyword rankings but no customers?
A ranking is only an opportunity to be seen. First check whether the keyword reflects a buying need. Then look at clicks, whether the page builds trust, and how easy it is to contact you.
Find the sticking point in order
- Rankings but few impressions: check search demand, geography and query conditions.
- Impressions but few clicks: check whether the title answers the need and what other options appear on the results page.
- Clicks but no inquiries: make service scope, pricing, case studies and contact details clear.
- Inquiries but no sales: investigate inquiry quality, quotations and the sales process.
“How to fold moving boxes” and “office relocation quote” may attract very different needs. Both can bring traffic, but you should not expect the same quality of inquiry.
Track rankings, clicks and inquiries separately
Compare a page’s search impressions, clicks and inquiry records. This shows whether the obstacle is visibility, attracting clicks or the information people find after arrival. Identify the bottleneck before choosing the next improvement.
