Are Google Maps rankings the same as website SEO?
They are different places to gain exposure. Maps listings emphasize location and local needs, while website pages can answer service, comparison and information questions. Maintain and measure them separately.
Start with what the customer is looking for
“Coffee shops near me” and “how to choose coffee beans” need different information. A physical business should keep its name, address, hours, services and contact details accurate. Its website can provide more complete service information and answers.
Google says local results mainly consider relevance, distance and prominence. Complete information helps it understand a business, but cannot guarantee the same Maps position for every user.
Measure the outcomes separately
A Business Profile can show interactions such as calls and direction requests. Search Console shows organic search impressions and clicks for a website. Compare matching date ranges and account for location differences. Do not treat a Maps position as a website ranking.
